Poundon House, is the ideal location for your yoga retreat. The Queen Anne style country house is stunning and spacious; set within six acres of landscaped gardens on the edge of the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border. Despite the peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside, Poundon is within easy reach of London, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, the Cotswolds and Bristol with fantastic transport links to the all of these places.
Once you arrive at Poundon House, you will feel immediately at home. Whether it is settling down in front of a roaring open fire, taking a long bath in one of the unique bathrooms or going for a quiet walk in the apple orchard, for over a century Poundon has been the perfect place to escape the bustle of city life.
“Massive rooms with wooden floors, high ceilings, and original features and fireplaces provide super spaces to dine, read, relax, and practice yoga, while the bedrooms are individually furnished, tasteful and comfy. There are no modern distractions such as televisions or speakers, and no en-suites, but there are enough bathrooms for it not to feel a chore to have to share.”

A little bit of background…
Poundon House was built in 1908 by Col. John Heyward Lonsdale. The house is built of sandstone from the quarry at Eydon near Banbury and the stone was hauled up from the Marsh Gibbon station by teams of horses. In 1939 the house was requisitioned for the war by the Foreign and Colonial Office. During the war the house played a part of the huge effort to break the Engima Code and many people were stationed here by the government. After the war the house continued to be used for the gathering of intelligence in the Cold War.
Poundon has now been owned and loved by the Roscoe family for 40 years. My sister Natalie and myself, Alicia, who run the well-being events at Poundon House grew up here, so we know every aspect and secret of the house.
As a family we have hosted many events over the years – from house-parties, birthday parties to 250 strong weddings. We have been a wedding venue for 10 years. Our aim is to share with you the incredible experience of being in this beautiful country house for the weekend, away from the city, surrounded by nature, immersing yourself in yoga, delicious healthy food and enhancing your own well-being.
Your well-being hosts
Alicia has been a yoga-lover for ten years. In 2011 she gave up her career as a lawyer and trained to be a yoga teacher in India.
“Nothing gives me more happiness than hosting a yoga retreat at my family home. I know how great guests will feel by the end of the weekend; inspired, uplifted, relaxed, rejuvenated. I have experienced it myself after yoga retreats!”
If you come to one of our retreats, you can expect hands-on hosting. As well as your yoga teacher, therapists and chef, Alicia will be on site to make sure your stay is blissful.
Please feel free to ask us any questions in the lead up and during the weekend, we are more than happy to help with anything, nothing is too big or too small!
As well as hosting its own well-being events Poundon House is available for hire by external well-being event companies and yoga teachers, and is an established Wedding Venue.
